20 March 2018

Notification of
1 May 2018

Early Registration Deadline:
1 July 2018

NEW INFORMATION:  ANTEM contributions are formatted as an IEEE summary paper, submitted in the IEEE standard two-column format. As per IEEE regulations papers should not be less than two pages in length, including text, references, and figures. Although IEEE has no requirements for maximum length on papers submitted to Xplore, AP-S has set a minimum length of two pages in a two-column format for papers submitted to Xplore from conferences it technically co-sponsors. However, this is only a minimum-length requirement, there is no requirement regarding maximum length.  Although longer papers will be accepted (maximum 6 pages), authors should be aware that they run the risk of not being able to publish it later in IEEE transactions.

Submissions must meet IEEE Xplore specifications, including embedding of all fonts into the PDF file. Only the designated contact author will receive an (automated) acknowledgement of the submission.

Authors are invited to submit a minimum 2-page paper via the online submission.  The format of all submissions is PDF and must be created according to IEEE specifications. Submissions will be reviewed by the Technical Program Committee and notice of acceptance/rejection will be emailed to the corresponding author.

Conference content will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.

manuscript preparation
The language of the symposium is English. The text should be formatted single-spaced and two-column. Submissions must withstand a linear reduction to 70% of original size and maintain readability. The introduction of the paper should clearly indicate the unique aspects of the submission and how it relates to previous work. Please do not include page numbers on submitted documents. Please use the IEEE templates below. Only designated contact-authors will receive an (automated) acknowledgement of the submission.

publication charge
Every accepted paper must be linked to a registered person by July 1, 2018, any paper not linked to a registered person by July 1, 2018, will be withdrawn from the technical program and the conference digest. A publication charge of $250.00 CAD, will apply to a single author having more than one paper, each additional paper after the first paper, will require a publication charge. If the number of papers exceeds the number of authors, the extra paper will have a charge of $250, provided all authors have registered for the other papers. In the case of multiple authors and multiple papers a registration is required for each paper. If you are unsure of the registrations required, please email antem@umanitoba.caenter your paperid number in all correspondence.

copyright notice
IEEE policy requires that prior to publication all authors or their employers must transfer to the IEEE (electronically - eCF) any copyright they hold for their individual papers.

BEFORE creating your PDF, the appropriate copyright clearance code notice must appear on the bottom of the first page of each paper according to the guidelines set forth in the Cataloging/Copyright Instructions for an IEEE Conference Proceedings. Below is a list of copyright notices, from which you must choose ONE.

  1. For papers in which all authors are employed by the US government, the copyright notice is: U.S. Government work not protected by U.S. copyright
  2. For papers in which all authors are employed by a Crown government (UK, Canada, and Australia), the copyright notice is: 978-1-5386-1338-2/18/$31.00 ©2018 Crown
  3. For papers in which all authors are employed by the European Union, the copyright notice is: 978-1-5386-1338-2/18/$31.00 ©2016 European Union
  4. For all other papers the copyright notice is: 978-1-5386-1338-2/18/$31.00 ©2018 IEEE

PDF generation and/or compliance checking
ANTEM has registered for use of the IEEE PDF eXpress Plus system. IEEE PDF eXpress Plus is a free service to IEEE conferences, allowing their authors to make IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (conversion function) or to check PDFs that authors have created themselves for IEEE Xplore-compatibility (PDF check function). The IEEE PDF eXpress Plus can take your source files (doc, dvi, etc.) and create a PDF that meets IEEE's guidelines. It can also check an already available PDF file for IEEE compliance. It is important to note that a PDF file is the only file that can be submitted to ANTEM by way of the online submission.

IMPORTANT: Any changes made to a PDF after IEEE PDF eXpress Plus conversion or PDF checking may invalidate Xplore compatibility. This includes headers, page numbers, copyright notice, watermarks, etc. If any of these elements are desired, they should be added to the document before the PDF is created.

IEEE Xplore requirement, is for a PDF to provide a unified and consistent format for the IEEE electronic archives. All conference articles submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore, which is the case of this symposium, must adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF specification for compatibility.

non-presented paper policy
Non-presented papers will be excluded from distribution. “IEEE reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference, including IEEE Xplore Digital Library, if the paper is not presented by the author at the conference." If a paper is included in the proceedings distributed on site and is later identified as a non-presented paper, that paper will be flagged when submitted to IEEE, and it will not be indexed or appear in IEEE Xplore. Copyright of non-presented papers is still retained by IEEE.
